Depending on your collecting preferences, 1998 Topps Tek Baseball is either one of the greatest sets ever or the worst. There isn’t much middle ground. On the surface, the 90-card checklist is about as basic as you can get. And the mix of acetate and foil looks great.
Oh, yeah — each player has 90 variations based on the background patterns.
So if you’re a player collector, there are 90 different base cards to track down. And for the handful of dedicated master set collectors, there are 8,100 cards.
And we haven’t even touched on the Diffractor parallels that are available for all 8,100.
Whatever level collectors jump in, there’s nothing easy about it.
