2002 Bowman Heritage Baseball Black Box Variations

Ad

2002 Bowman Heritage Baseball Black Box Variations are simple to spot. They also make completing a full master base set that much tougher.

Inserted 1:2 packs, variations have a black box on the front for the name plate. It also means that the facsimile signature inside the box is white. Regular cards have a black facsimile autograph.

Black Box Variation

If that wasn’t excitement enough, 20 cards don’t carry facsimile signatures at all. Instead the names are written with a computer font. These 20 cards are not variations, but rather an homage to one of the odd happenings in the 1954 Bowman set that 2002 Bowman Heritage takes its inspiration from.

Another quirk of 1954 Bowman is that two #66 cards produced, one of Ted Williams and another of Jimmy Piersall. This time it’s Pedro Martinez and Nomar Garciaparra who share the infamous number.
