Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees has been named the first spokesperson ever for Topps’ baseball card line. With the deal, Topps becomes the exclusive home for autographed and memorabilia cards featuring the third baseman.
“I remember collecting a lot of cards as a kid, more than I could afford,” said Rodriguez. “Topps is the company that I’ve grown up with, so this is a special deal for me.”
There’s no word on whether or not Rodriguez will have to wear an “I love Topps” T-shirt under his Yankees jersey as a part of the deal.
Rodriguez joins several other players under exclusive deals like Ken Griffey Jr. and Derek Jeter at Upper Deck.
