1997 Comic Images The Tick trading cards mix both the comic book and cartoon interpretations. It’s a basic set that’s easy to overlook. But for fans of the quirky Ben Edlund creation, there aren’t many Tick trading cards to choose from.
The 72-card base set takes a simple approach as far as designs go. Card fronts use full-bleed illustrations that combine comic art and shots from the animated show. Printed on somewhat thick 24-pt stock, it lends a bit of a premium feel.
1997 Comic Images The Tick has very little in the way of insert cards. Chromium Cards (1:18 packs) recreate the covers from the first six Tick comic books with some added metallic shine.
The big chase, though, comes in the form of an autograph from The Tick’s creator, Ben Edlund. The card has a print run of 500 copies.
The only other set of mainstream trading cards to include The Tick focused on FOX’s Saturday morning cartoon block of the mid 1990s. Because it covers several shows, it’s more of an anthology release.
