Of all the versions of Batman to come out in the 1990s, its the cartoon version that is the best in many people’s eyes. 1993 Topps Batman: The Animated Series trading cards span two series, covering some of the show’s classic episodes.
Series 1 kicks things off with 100 cards. The first 50 are dedicated to characters, places and gadgets. Among them is Harley Quinn (#36), which is her “rookie card” of sorts. The card can actually command a decent price on the secondary market when sold individually. The second half of the checklist focuses on specific episodes.
At 90 cards, Series 2 is a little smaller. It’s all show-based, including 30 cards covering the Mask of the Phantasm theatrical film.
Inserts are relatively sparse in 1993 Topps Batman: The Animated Series. Both series have Vinyl Mini-Cels.
Series 2 packs also have Danny DeVito autographs randomly inserted. The actor signed 2,000 copies of a Penguin card from the 1992 Topps Stadium Club Batman Returns release. It doesn’t have any telltale signs that show it’s a pack-inserted card so you might want to use a little extra caution if you’re looking to purchase one.
