2005 Topps Batman Begins trading cards is the only standalone mainstream set to cover the Christopher Nolan trilogy. The checklist includes a mix of traditional base cards and inserts as well as premium content like memorabilia cards and autographs. And what an autograph checklist it is.
2005 Topps Batman Begins Checklist Details
The 90-card base set is standard stuff with both character cards and a movie synopsis. Lots of action images are used and the layout is similar to that used with Topps’ Lord of the Rings line that came just before, albeit with a Batman twist.
Autographs are tough pulls at 1:5 hobby boxes. However, the approach pays off because there are no fillers. The five-card checklist includes Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Cillian Murphy and Katie Holmes. Christian Bale is a major name to be missing, but there’s still enough to keep things strong.
Memorabilia cards are one per hobby box. These have pieces of a Batmobile tire, Batman’s cape and Batman’s costume.
The remaining inserts cover a decent amount of variety, but several are exclusive to certain types of packs. Embossed Foil and Holograms are in all types. Stickers and Tattoos are only in retail packs.
Finally, the 2005 Topps Batman Begins checklist has three bonus cards that were only in blister packs. These can actually be fairly tough to find.
