Things don’t have to be perfect to be great. Take the 2005 Topps Batman Begins autographs, for instance. One could notice right away that Christian Bale is missing. But so many other strong names are included that all is not lost.

The Batman Begins autographs checklist takes a less-is-more approach. A lot of modern sets have big lineups that are dominated by smaller names and supporting stars. This set is the opposite. Just five signers are included and not one is a complete bust. Of course, a couple are bigger than others but a worst case scenario is still pretty good.

Star-Crossed Signers

Things start with Michael Caine, a legitimate film legend with a long and acclaimed career. This is his only certified autograph card. He’s also tied with Cillian Murphy as being the most common autograph in the set at 1:212 packs.

A couple of other big names joining Caine are Liam Neeson and Gary Oldman. For Neeson, this is also his lone appearance as a signer for a card set. All of his cards were signed with a ballpoint pen, which is less than ideal but still better than nothing.

Oldman’s signature appeared in a handful of Harry Potter sets. However, he’s easily the toughest of the 2005 Topps Batman Begins autographs. His card appears 1:1,812 packs, which is more than twice as tough as Neeson, the next rarest.

When Batman Begins came out, Katie Holmes was one of the biggest young actresses in Hollywood. Although her career has quieted somewhat as she’s shifted more into smaller films, her autograph is still a popular one.

Batman Begins autographs are exclusive to hobby packs. They combine to land 1:120 packs so they’re far from guaranteed in each box.

The set has been popular since they were first released. However, as supplies have dried up, prices have remained strong. Expect most to top $100, at minimum. The 2005 Topps Batman Begins Gary Oldman autograph has surpassed $500.
