You wan to talk fantastic autograph lineup? The 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs are a stellar collection from one of the movies that helped launch the modern comic-based blockbuster. Featuring 13 cards (plus one famous unreleased gem), the set has almost as many quirks.

Ten of the cards are in 2000 Topps X-Men Movie packs. Names include Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier), Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto) and Famke Janssen (Jean Grey). Director Bryan Singer also lent his signature to the set. Singer and Stewart, who signed in gold, are the hardest of the pack-inserted autographs to find.

Three cards aren’t in packs. Rather, they’re incentives. Anna Paquin (Rogue) and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (Mystique) were reportedly late in getting their cards back. Topps rewarded dealers with the cards after the fact. Ray Park was a case topper in 2001 Topps Marvel Legends.

The 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs are inserted 1:36 hobby packs. This is worth noting because the product has retail packs and boxes that don’t have signed cards. Hobby packs do note the availability of autographs and memorabilia cards so it’s easy to spot them.

For a long time, this was a relatively overlooked set. People knew of it, but prices weren’t all that strong given the stacked checklist, both for the movie itself but their standing in Hollywood as well. Several of the cards, like Jackman, Paquin and McKellen have risen in value over the years.

Halle Berry: An Almost Signer

Halle Berry was also scheduled to be in the set. However, she injured her hand and was forced to drop out. It wasn’t until more than a decade later that the the first Halle Berry autograph cards appeared. She has signed for multiple James Bond sets from Rittenhouse. That said, there are a very small number of unsigned X-Men autographs of the Academy Award winner.
