Coming on the heels of Wayne’s World, Coneheads was supposed to continue the tradition of turning classic Saturday Night Live skits into blockbuster movies. Well, that didn’t happen. But the licensing machine turns on based on past performance and the hope of a big return. That meant plenty of Beldar and Prymaat merch do go around. Among it, 1993 Topps Coneheads trading cards.
The set is more of a throwback release than a modern one. Sixty-six base cards recap the film. The result is a set that feels like a traditional movie set from Topps in the 1970s and 1980s.
However, unlike most of the company’s releases from the era, 1993 Topps Coneheads doesn’t have any stickers to compliment the base set. It’s 66 cards and that’s it.
With 48 packs per box, expect to get lots of doubles — hopefully in the form of complete sets.
Considering the era in which they were released, one in which most every set has a massive supply, 1993 Topps Coneheads isn’t the most abundant. It’s by no means rare, but it’s a lot less common than you might expect.
