2001 Inkworks Mummy Returns trading cards mark a strong effort with a checklist headlined by autographs from two of the film’s top stars.
However, it all starts with the base set. As you’d expect, much of it revolves around summarizing the film’s story. However, there are also cards for characters and some of the mythology and creation of the blockbuster sequel.
2001 Inkworks Mummy Returns has both autographs and costume cards, although neither are guaranteed in a box. Insertion rates for both were never announced. It’s also important to note that all were redemptions so buying boxes now, if you find them, won’t have the final cards — just expired redemption cards.
Topping the autograph checklist are Brendan Fraser and a WWF Champion turned actor, The Rock. At the time, Fraser was one of Hollywood’s bigger stars so his signing was a pretty big deal even if his popularity has waned in recent years. For The Rock, his movie career was just getting started. His role as the Scorpion King, was actually his Hollywood breakthrough.
While Rachel Weisz didn’t sign for the set, she is represented on two of the product’s three Pieceworks costume cards.
The Scorpion King is featured on the nine-card foil puzzle insert. The only other inserts are six Sands of Time cards and one box loader.
