Let’s put aside the fact the movie was frightening, bad and not funny. 2003 Comic Images Cat in the Hat trading cards offer about as much substance as the source material.
Based on said movie not the beloved Dr. Seuss book, the base set has 72 cards. And it’s a simple 72 cards with only the film’s logo joining the image on the front. One thing the checklist does do is cover the movie from start to finish.
The main inserts are six Memorabilia cards. Like a lot of Comic Images sets at the time, the costume pieces are embedded into the back of the card, not the front. It’s an odd design choice and not a good one. The most redeeming aspect in the characters covered on the costume cards. Besides one of the Cat’s hats, there are swatches from Alec Baldwin, Dakota Fanning and more.
The only other inserts in 2003 Comic Images Cat in the Hat trading cards are six Die-Cut cards.
