2004 Rittenhouse Chronicles of Riddick trading cards do a good job for a movie that’s solid at best. And while it’s easy to attribute this to one particular card, the product as a whole does have more depth than that.
The 72-card base set takes a bit of a different approach than a lot of Rittenhouse’s other movie and TV sets. The standard recap comes in the first 60 cards. They’re followed by three checklists and closed out by a nine-card puzzle recreating the movie poster.
Autographs are the only premium inserts available in packs, landing two per box (1:20 packs). Vin Diesel is the obvious headliner. To date, this is his lone certified autograph card. While not every signer is a huge name, there are no dogs either. Others include Thandie Newton, Judi Dench and Karl Urban. Claudia Black came with the set’s binder.
While no costume cards were included in packs, one of Riddick’s T-shirt worn by Diesel was sold separately after the set’s release. The card is limited to 600 copies.
The product has two additional basic insert sets. The original film is recapped in the 18-card Pitch Black. The movie’s stars are highlighted in Casting Call.
With 3,000 total 2004 Rittenhouse Chronicles of Riddick boxes produced, it was a relatively small print run.
