You can look at the 2016 Ghostbusters Autographs checklist from Cryptozoic as being three-quarters full or one quarter empty. Although it is missing some key names, it still covers much of both films plus some very notable actors who lent their voices to The Real Ghostbusters cartoon.

All told, 19 autographs are included in the set. Leading them all is Dan Aykroyd who played Dr. Raymond Stantz. This is his first certified autograph card. Another original Ghostbuster, Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore) is also on the checklist. He has signed for a couple of sets before, include 2013 Topps 75th Anniversary which highlighted a card of his from Topps’ Ghostbusters II set.

Director Ivan Reitman, who also directed such classic comedies as Stripes, Kindergarten Cop and Meatballs is another big-name first-time signer. His son, Jason Reitman, had a bit part in the sequel. That in itself wouldn’t warrant a strong autograph. However, as an adult, the junior Reitman has carved out a directing career of his own, helming such films as Juno and Up in the Air.

Another key cast member from the original film with their first autograph is Annie Potts (Janine). She’s had an extensive career dating back to the late 1970s. Among her roles — Iona in John Hughes’ Pretty in Pink.

Another Hughes-alum in the set is Ben Stein (“Bueller…Bueller…Bueller…”).

The 2016 Cryptozoic Ghostbusters autographs branch over to the animated cartoon as well. While these sorts of cards don’t normally get as much attention as cards with actors’ faces, there are a couple of notable names that haven’t signed in any other sets yet. First up is Dave Coulier, who spent some time voicing Dr. Peter Venkman in The Real Ghostbusters. He’s probably best known as Uncle Joey on Full House. Coulier is also rumored the unnamed guy who inspired Alanis Morissette to write “You Otta Know.”

And then there’s Arsenio Hall. Before going on to host one of the most influential late night talk shows of all-time, he was the cartoon voice of Winston.

Who Isn’t In the Set

Overall, the Ghostbusters autographs checklist is strong. But it’s not perfect. Most notable of the missing names is Bill Murray. Just below that is Sigourney Weaver (who signed for Upper Deck’s Alien Anthology, which released not long before this set) and the reclusive Rick Moranis.

Harold Ramis passed away before the set was made, which makes it tough to include him outside of, maybe, a cut signature.

When you hear Ghostbusters, it won’t be long before you think of the theme song. Ray Parker Jr. isn’t here. Instead, there’s Bobby Brown who performed the much less catchy anthem for the sequel. In the bigger picture, Brown’s name might be a little bigger, though.
