Over the years, there have been plenty of James Bond memorabilia cards. If you’re looking for the first, you need to go back to the 2002 Rittenhouse James Bond 40th Anniversary costume cards.

The set has just three cards and not much in the way of variations. However, they represent some big names and actors in the Bond franchise and came out at a time when the costume card concept was still novel.

Done under the From the Archives name, two costume cards are available in 2002 Rittenhouse James Bond 40th Anniversary packs. Inserted at a rate of 1:120 packs, they’re approximately every sixth box. Card #CC1 features the very first James Bond, Sean Connery. A View to a Kill‘s Max Zorn (played by Christopher Walken) is the other costume card available in packs.

The last of the 40th Anniversary costume cards, Sir Godfrey Tibbett (star of TV’s classic Avengers series, Patrick Macnee), is exclusive to the set’s binder.

All carry the same design using a red and black color palette with silhouette of Bond and a female, channeling the franchise’s memorable opening sequences.

Prices are fairly strong for all three, which shouldn’t be surprising given that they’re the first James Bond costume cards. The characters are also memorable and the actors are all legends. Factor in the fact that much of the supply has dried up and the values for what’s left benefit. The Connery card in particular has high asking prices.
