Not much screams the ’90s more than Saved by the Bell. Zack Morris, Screech, Slater, Kelly Kapowski, Jessie and Lisa brought the bright colors, innocence and bad jokes. But they also touched a nerve in the era’s pop culture. But as big as the show got, the 1992 Pacific Saved by the Bell trading cards are actually pretty tough to come by.
The set structure is as basic as one of the show’s plots. It’s a 110-card base set. Images are promo shots of the actors either by themselves, in pairs or different combinations of groups. They bring the ’90s fashions. The borders and backdrops further fuel the time capsule feel.
Seeing as how the set came out in 1992, you’d expect it to be everywhere. That was when trading cards were still near their peak in popularity. But this isn’t the case. 1992 Pacific Saved by the Bell is not available on a whim. And it definitely carries a premium over a lot of other products that came out around the same time.
This set shouldn’t be confused with Pacific’s follow-up for the prime time flop, Saved by the Bell: The College Years. That set branches more into the inserts. It’s also still very much available in all forms.
But if you’re looking for the good years of Zack, Kelly and company, the original set is where it’s at.
