1998 Dart FlipCards Mr. Bean trading cards capture the antics of the classic real-life cartoon character as he was portrayed on both the small screen and in his feature film debut. It’s not a complicated release, but what’s important is that it captures so many of the best gags.
The 72-card base set is simple in its set-up. Save for a small Mr. Bean signature logo on the front, the rest of the space is dedicated to the image and its ensuing gag. The checklist is essentially split in half. The first part covers the show while the second half highlights the big screen Bean.
The only inserts available in packs are fun ones. Six Lenticular cards (1:18 packs) offer a little movement to classic gags such as Mr. Bean with the Christmas turkey on his head.
1998 Dart FlipCards Mr. Bean also has six Spectra cards that are notable for their shiny backgrounds. However, these were only available through a mail-away offer and aren’t in packs.
While Mr. Bean maintains a strong level of enduring popularity, this set is largely overlooked today. Combine that with the simplicity of the checklist and it’s not overly valuable and is still not too tough to track down.
