2002 Inkworks Alias Season 1 trading cards were the start of something great, at least for a couple of years. Presented with a then-premium foil format, the set includes one of the strongest autograph lineups from the early part of the oughts. Add to that some fun inserts and a few tough Pieceworks costume cards and it’s easy to see where the appeal comes from.
All 81 cards in the base set are done on foil stock, something typically saved for inserts in a lot of other Inkworks products. All 22 first season episodes are summarized with a pair of cards. There are also several subsets that go behind the scenes and delve into the spy show’s mythology.
Autographs are inserted 1:39 packs so they’re not guaranteed in every box. Jennifer Garner, who played Sydney Bristow, leads the way. But she’s not the only high-profile signer. Bradley Cooper and J.J. Abrams are also in the set.
2002 Inkworks Alias Season 1 has three Pieceworks cards with small swatches of show-worn costumes. All were worn by Garner. Unfortunately, two of the three were only available via redemption. Landing one in a pack today wouldn’t lead to the finished product as they’ve long expired — and Inkworks is out of business.
The product has three additional basic inserts found in packs. Secret Lives is a nine-card foil puzzle that shows many of Sydney’s disguises. Double Agent is a heat-sensitive set that’s activated by rubbing it with a finger or holding it in your hand. Secret Agent is a somewhat tough single-card set with more Sydney.
Sealed boxes have one of three box loaders while cases have an exclusive case loader.
