2000 Inkworks Angel Season 1 trading cards take the love of Buffy’s life out of Sunnydale, setting him up in the sunny confines of Los Angeles. The first set of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff is a strong one, headlined by autographs from several key stars.
The base set has 90 cards cover the shows, some demons, some ladies, Angel Investigations and Walfram & Hart.
Releasing at a time when autographs weren’t guaranteed in every box of Inkworks products, official odds were never released. The checklist is also smaller compared to later sets when they became more common. Titular star David Boreanaz tops the list of signers. This is one of only two autograph cards he has. Other highlights include Alexis Denisof (Wesley) and James Marsters (Spike).
Although there aren’t any costume cards, 2000 Inkworks Angel Season 1 has a few other inserts. Dark Avenger is a nine-card foil puzzle. I Love LA is another foil set, this time focusing exclusively on Cordelia, another character to move over from Buffy. Warrior’s Destiny has just one card. Done with etched foil, it’s inserted every 108 packs.
