You know the cliche about all good things? Well, it’s happened with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff, Angel. With it comes one final set of trading cards, 2004 Inkworks Angel Season 5. The release has the same mix of cards found in other Angel products (and virtually all Inkworks sets of the time). Boxes are highlighted by the promise of an autograph and a costume card.
All 22 episodes of the final season are represented in the base set with anywhere from two to five cards (the vast majority have three). The 2004 Inkworks Angel Season 5 checklist is filled out with subsets that tackle such subjects as love, death and family.
The set has a total of 12 autographs. While Mercedes McNab is the biggest name connected to the Buffy-verse in which the show resides, the actress isn’t known for much else. The most intriguing Angel Season 5 signer is a young Vincent Kartheiser, who would land a key role in Mad Men a few years later.
Seven Pieceworks cards come with a swatch of a show-worn costume. The checklist covers six different characters including Angel, Spike and Wesley.
Breaking the Circle is the standard nine-card foil puzzle while the six card insert is titled The Last Days.
2004 Inkworks Angel Season 5 also has three box loaders (including one of Angel as a puppet) and a case loader. These were not inserted in packs.
