A set of trading cards based on the Beetlejuice movie didn’t come out until 2001. And even then, it was a small factory set that didn’t offer much in the way of imagination or depth. Rewind back to 1990 and you’ve got your first cards for Beetlejuice, Lydia and company. Only, it’s their lesser known cartoon counterparts. 1990 Dart Flipcards Beetlejuice Animated trading cards are one of those “it’s better than nothing” kind of products. It’s solid for what it is and aims to be but it really isn’t the Beetlejuice that most of us remember.
The main 100-card set focuses on random clips from the show. Like the movie, there’s plenty of weird to go around. They’re complimented by a bright green border and a pink caption box. Rounding out the design elements are some gothic lines that are more comedic than spooky, which fits perfectly with the show. Back have small write-ups but there isn’t much too them.
Joining the base set are 20 Glow-In-the-Dark Stickers that are just as the name describes. It’s more strange images on the front and plain white on the back.
1990 Dart Flipcards Beetlejuice Animated trading cards are fairly available. That said, because the cartoon isn’t nearly as popular as the movie all these years later, it’s one that not a ton of people are likely looking for.
