After finding huge success with their Buffy the Vampire Slayer license, Inkworks stuck with the supernatural genre to look to expand their portfolio. 2000 Inkworks Charmed Season 1 was an appropriate fit. And one that showed some legs. The first set of Charmed trading cards is highlighted by an autograph list that is headlined by two-thirds of the show’s leads.
The 2000 Inkworks Charmed Season 1 base set has 72 cards. Each of the season’s 22 episodes is recapped with two cards. Other subsets delve into the show’s characters, its demons and the Halliwell family.
Autographs definitely lead the set’s chase element. A total of six actors signed for the set, although odds were never officially announced. Shannon Doherty (Prue), who is also known for playing Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hill 90210, and Holly Marie Combs (Piper) are the top cards. David Carradine also has an autograph.
Charmed Ones (nine cards, 1:11 packs) is the standard foil puzzle that exists in nearly every Inkworks set. There are also six Book of Shadows inserts (1:17). At first, they look like a book. And like a book, they flip open. Spirit Board is die-cut in the shape of a Ouija board. The single-card insert falls about every third box.
