Inkworks must have had a good thing going with their first set of Smallville trading cards. The follow-up, 2003 Inkworks Smallville Season 2, follows much the same route. The big difference comes with the high-end inserts. While autographs and costume cards combined to land about one per box with Season 1, this set has one of each.
The base set has 90 cards. Approximately the first half focuses on characters and other aspects of the show. The episode recaps don’t come along until later, making up the second half of the set. Subset include Family Ties, The Ship from Space, and Buried Secrets.
Autographs continue on from where the Season 1 checklist left off. This time out there are ten signers. While Annette O’Toole, Sam Jones III and John Glover all had key roles in the show, their popularity isn’t enough to anchor the list. For fans of ’80s comedies, Richard Moll signed for the set. He was best known as Bull on Night Court.
Like Autographs, Pieceworks cards also had their odds made a little easier. One of the eight costume cards should be in every box.
The Day Is Coming is the customary puzzle insert while Till Death Do Us Part is the second basic insert. It has six cards.
Rounding out 2003 Inkworks Smallville Season 2 are three box loaders and a die-cut case loader.
