2005 Inkworks Smallville Season 4 trading cards continue with the trend of in-depth seasonal looks at the show. It also offers the first autographs of a couple of the show’s major actors. Tom Welling is, once again, not one of them.
The base set sticks with the 90-card format. The first half features several subsets that delve in the characters and season 4 themes.
Outside of Season 1, this is probably the strongest autograph lineup of all the Smallville trading card sets released by Inkworks. It’s highlighted by Michael Rosenbaum who played Lex Luthor. Not only does he have a regular autograph, but dealers ordering multiple cases also received an Autographed Pieceworks card from the actor. Other signers include Erica Durance (Lois Lane) and Margot Kidder who played Bridgette Crosby in the show but is more famous for playing Lois Lane in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies.
Autographs combine to land 1:36 packs, which is one per box.
2005 Inkworks Smallville Season 4 boxes also have one of seven different Pieceworks cards. These have a piece of show-worn costume embedded in them. Each card features a different character.
The basic inserts follow the same pattern Inkworks took with nearly all of their sets. Lois & Clark is a nine-card foil puzzle. Switchcraft is the six-card insert that lands 1:17 packs.
Boxes also come with one of three different Kryptonian Symbols box loaders. There’s also a Nemesis case loader.
