2002 Inkworks X-Files Season 8 trading cards weren’t playing catch-up when the set released. The card maker landed the license late in the show’s run and was quick to put out two sets bridging the four-season gap spanning from when Topps parted ways with the show and Inkworks picked it up.
The 90-card base set offers more depth than the Seasons 4 and 5 and Seasons 6 and 7 releases. Both of those are the same size but have twice as much ground to cover. Each episode has at least two cards (most have three). Subsets stay the course with the previous Inkworks sets: characters, mysteries and behind-the-scenes.
Autographs are inserted every other box. It lacks a marquee star but Annabeth Gish is a solid backup. Just four autographs are on the 2002 Inkworks X-Files Season 8 checklist.
Pieceworks also return. These are cards with pieces of costumes used in the show. Inserted 1:115 packs, both of the cards were available as redemptions.
Believe to Understand comes with the final three cards in a foil puzzle that started with Inkworks’ first two sets of X-Files trading cards. The Search for Mulder is the only other insert set in 2002 Inkworks X-Files Season 8 packs.
Boxes come with one of three box loaders and there’s an exclusive case loader as well.
