2002 Rittenhouse Xena: Beauty and Brawn trading cards use a slightly more upscale configuration to highlight the character of Xena: Warrior Princess. This includes an autograph and a pair of costume cards per box.
The base set is done on reflective stock, making it both distinct from other Xena sets as well as something more premium. There are a total of 72 cards that make up the base checklist. However, an uncorrected error at the end of the set resulted in no #70 so it ends at #73.
All base cards are character-centered. Xena, Callisto and Gabrielle have several cards each. Some other key supporting characters also appear more than once.
As far as autographs go, this may be one of the weaker Xena lineups from Rittenhouse for single-signed cards. However, there are a couple of dual autographs, one of which has Lucy Lawless (Xena) and Renee O’Connor (Gabrielle).
The costume card checklist is ambitious with 13 single swatches, eight duals and a trio of autographed costume cards. The vast majority of these use pieces worn by key characters.
2002 Rittenhouse Xena: Beauty and Brawn has some basic inserts as well.Footsteps of a Warrior show Xena as a world traveller. Amazon Warriors look at some of the show’s toughest ladies. “The Xena Scrolls” episode gets its own insert set. Kevin Smith Tribute honors the late actor who played Ares. Finally, there’s a two card Beauty and Brawn set that fits together like a mini puzzle. Printed on clear plastic card stock, one lands every 480 packs.
