Overview: 2004 Topps All-Time Favorites Baseball

One of last year's top sets was Topps Fan Favorites. Why? Well, two autographs per box was a good start. But it wasn't so much the Hall-of-Famers that were getting collectors excited. It was the local fan faves such as Alvin Davis and Chris Sabo. With so many autographs flooding the market with each new set, Fan Favorites brought many first-time signers to packs, even if they weren't superstars.

The follow-up set, 2004 Topps All-Time Favorites, promises much the same. The big twist comes in the base set. Rather than reprinting past cards, Topps has taken the classic designs of yester-year and added all-new photos. So while the set may feel like an old friend, it's refreshed. Topps is digging deep into its archives to match photos with the years appropriate to the design on which the card appears.

Of the 150 stars from the base set, 120 will be providing autographs. One special signature is that of Sy Berger, a former Topps executive who was a driving force in evolving the baseball card market many moons ago. Autographs will again be inserted two per box.
