So what does it mean for collectors? The most noticeable is the impact it will have on historical sets. With UD having the exclusive rights to make sets with the likes of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, amongst others, means that similar sets from other companies will have watered down player lineups. I think what you're going to see is an increased focus that rather than having just retired players, there'll be sets focusing on specific eras or even teams, such as Topps and their Fan Favorites line that is entrenched in the 1960s and 1970s.
