Proceeds from the auction, Baseball Canada's first held outside of its annual national teams awards banquet and fundraiser, will go directly into the association's national teams program. Jerseys worn by Team Canada players at the 2004 Summer Games in Athens will be available, as will team manager Ernie Whitt's jersey. Interested bidders can visit either www.baseball.ca or www.ebay.ca for details and to participate in the auction. "Our team had a very memorable run in last summer's Olympics and we would like to share our memories with our very supportive fans," said Ray Carter, Baseball Canada's president. "It is important we continue building on our previous success as we move forward in establishing our program's future, and this is a perfect way of tying our national teams program and our devoted fans together." The jerseys being sold are of the visiting team variety, having a gray base with red sleeves and "CANADA" stitched across the front of the jersey. To mark the authenticity of each jersey, Baseball Canada's logo is stitched on the left sleeve, along with the logo for Majestic Athletic, the official uniform supplier of Baseball Canada. The jerseys,
made in the United States, are 100 per cent polyester and have numbers
stitched on both the front and the back. © Ryan Cracknell, Trader Crack's; March 24, 2005. |
