Over
the past couple of years, the up-start Arena Football League has been
growing as an alternative to the NFL. Part of that recognition comes
with the announcement that Upper Deck will be producing AFL cards.
"The AFL continues to attract market leaders such as Upper Deck that believe in our long-term growth prospects, innovative track record, and loyal fan base," said Glenn Horine, Executive Vice President of the Arena Football League Properties in a press release. "Our fans have been clamoring for an outlet to further demonstrate their fan avidity through licensed products."
Past AFL stars who have gone on to the NFL including Kurt Warner, Tommy Maddox and Michael Lewis will also be a part of the action with an agreement between Upper Deck and Players Inc, the NFL players union.
