Vintage Star Wars

In 2005 the Star Wars saga will come to an end. At least on the big screen, or so George Lucas says. With the original trilogy finally coming to DVD this September, Topps is celebrating the entire series by incorporating its popular Heritage brand into non-sports. Star Wars Heritage will include cards representing all six of the Star Wars films, including a first look at the upcoming Episode III.

Star Wars Heritage will feature vintage card designs printed on greyback stock. And to complete the full retro effect, a piece of gum will be included in every pack. But it's not 1977 anymore, so there's some modern twists that will also be in the set. The chase will be led by autographed and sketch cards featuring original art.

This is the first set to cover both trilogies all at once. Photography will include all new photography unseen on any Topps cards before, drawing from Lucasfilms' Digital Archives.

A total of six promos will be made available:

  • Promo Card #1 (The Phantom Menace) Star Wars Insider #78
  • Promo Card #2 (Attack of the Clones) StarWarsShop.com
  • Promo Card #3 (Episode III) San Diego Comic Con
  • Promo Card #4 (Star Wars) Non-Sport Update/Oct.-Nov. issue
  • Promo Card #5 (The Empire Strikes Back) Diamond Previews catalog/July issue
  • Promo Card #6 (Return of the Jedi) GamePro magazine/Nov. issue

Star Wars Heritage is scheduled for release in September.
