1999 Topps WCW Embossed wrestling cards wrap up the partnership between the two companies. And while the autographs might not be on the same level as the ones in 1998 WCW/nWo and 1999 Nitro, that doesn’t mean that this isn’t a solid set.
The base set has 72 cards. All but the title card profile wrestlers and other WCW personalities. 1999 Topps WCW Embossed gets its name from these cards. They all come with embossing, meaning you can feel the shape of their muscles and such. Pro tip: if you do on a regular basis, you may want to keep that tidbit to yourself.
Autographs are the main chase element. However, they’re inserted 1:49 packs, which is less than one per box. The checklist features 27 signers, which is still on the deep side. Key names include Steven Regal, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and Lex Luger.
1999 Topps WCW Embossed has the first memorabilia card of a pro wrestling icon, Hulk Hogan. The Ringside Rarity insert comes with a swatch from an event-worn yellow shirt. It’s not an easy find, though, landing 1:360 packs.
The set’s only other inserts are five Double-Sided Chrome cards.
