2006 Topps WWE Heritage Chrome is, for the most part, a more shiny version of the regular 2005 Topps WWE Heritage set that came out a few months before. Using the same format for the base set and a virtually identical checklist, its premium look is its main selling point.
Like the initial WWE Heritage release, the base set is a mix of 90 Superstars, Divas and Legends. There are a few changes due to roster moves, but not many. The designs are also all the same. Superstars are inspired by 1956 Topps Baseball. Divas use 1965 Topps Baseball and Legends look like the 1960 Topps Baseball release.
All the base cards except the checklist (#90) have three parallels. Refractors, which have a rainbow background when you shine them under light, are inserted 1:6 packs. X-Fractors come with a checkered background and are inserted approximately one per hobby box. Superfractors are the toughest to pull. Unlike most sets, though, they aren’t one-of-ones. Rather, 2006 Topps WWE Heritage Chrome Superfractors are serial numbered to 25 copies each.
Autographs, which are referred to as Chromographs due to their metallic card stock, fall one per hobby box. While the checklist is solid, it’s not as strong as the 2005 Topps WWE Heritage Autographs. The signatures are also done on stickers, which for a lot of collectors, is less appealing.
Instead of autographs, 2006 Topps WWE Heritage Chrome retail packs have Ringside Relics. These memorabilia cards have a pair of wrestlers on them with a piece of event-used canvas embedded in them.
There are no other basic inserts in the product.
