There are mash-ups and then there’s 1991 Surge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Holograms. These trading cards take one of the hobby’s top gimmicks at the time and apply them to one of its most popular franchises.
Consisting of just four cards, this is far from a big set. However, it’s not the easiest one to put together. Cards weren’t sold in packs or included as prizes in cereal boxes. Instead, they were available in vending machines.
Each of the four turtles are featured on their own card. They’re shown in more of a cartoon style than the original comics. The quality of the holograms are on the flat side, similar to the ones in 1990 Impel Marvel Universe.
Surge used the same artwork for a similar set of colorful stickers.
