2025-26 Topps Chrome Update Basketball Alter Egos ranks as one of the most popular and valuable insert sets of the hoops season. The 10-card set transforms top stars and a couple of rookies into comic-like interpretations of their famous nicknames.
The set follows the previous installment in 2025 Topps Chrome Update Baseball. Art is by Michael J. Blaskewicz who takes monikers literally and illustrates players in larger-than-life ways. It’s big, it’s intense and it’s totally distinct even if other sets use a similar name.
The checklist is small, which makes it loaded. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Nikola Jokic are among the future Hall of Famers. Two key rookies also have Alter Egos inserts: Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel, who set the three-point record for first-year players.
While the strong style is a big part of their popularity, scarcity is also a reason. The 2025-26 Topps Chrome Update Basketball Alter Egos odds vary based on the pack or box type. Specific pack odds are:
- Hobby Box – 1:6,818 packs
- Jumbo Box – 1:3,065 packs
- Delight Box – 1:2,155 packs
- Value Box – 1:15,386 packs
- Mega Box – 1:10,821 packs
- Fanatics Mega Box – 1:3,571 packs
Alter Egos have only a single parallel, one-of-one Superfractors. Some of these have sold for six figures including Curry who went for over $650,000 in September, 2026.
