1993-94 Fleer Ultra Basketball Scoring Kings Checklist, Gallery and Guide

What do top NBA scorers have to do with lightning? Who knows, but the pairing makes 1993-94 Fleer Ultra Basketball Scoring Kings one of the most popular insert sets of the era.

Led by an iconic Michael Jordan card, this is a set that is known more for its cool factor than its rarity. That said, with the popularity of grading today, top-condition cards bring that rarity into the equation as these cards are tough to find without any issues.

1993-94 Fleer Ultra Scoring Kings Checklist Details

The 1993-94 Fleer Ultra Basketball Scoring Kings checklist has ten cards. Besides Jordan, key cards include a second-year Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, David Robinson and Karl Malone. Included in Series 1 hobby, the inserts land at a rate of 1:36 packs. At one per box, they’re much easier than the era’s case hits. The small checklist helps as well as there are fewer players to chase.

The design is fairly minimal but instantly recognizable. Players are going hard in the foreground. Lightning storm in the background. Foil accents add a bit of classy shimmer. It’s simple but very memorable.

Thunderstruck

1993-94 Fleer Ultra Scoring Kings carry strong values today, particularly when it comes to top-condition copies that have been professionally graded. Pop counts for Gem Mint PSA 10 copies are extremely low. Like a lot of cards from the period, edges are the typical deterrent with wear and chipping being common culprits.

Scoring Kings continues for a few more years after this, but the lightning motif did not. While the set name remained, the designs varied significantly from year to year. Some carry strong values due to rarity, especially 1996-97—the final installment—but none are as iconic as the inserts from 1993-94 Fleer Ultra.
