1993 Cardz Flintstones gives the modern Stone Age family a modern set of trading cards. Yep, Fred gets a hologram. Although following a kid-friendly format, it’s a set focused on a TV show that began in the 1960s. That means a nice balance of nostalgia as well. It’s also an extremely affordable set today, even for those looking to put together a master set.
1993 Cardz Flintstones Checklist Overview
The base set consists of 100 cards. Within that are a variety of sections and subsets that come together to look at several decades of the show and other specials.
The first 50 cards make up the meat of the release. This is where episodes from the original series get the spotlight. Fronts keep it simple with a still from the show and the Flintstones logo. That’s it.
Backs have another smaller image, the name of the episode, what season and year it was from, as well as a brief plot synopsis.
The next section offers a look at the 1993 animated, “I Yabba-Dabba Do” centered around the marriage of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm.
Other subsets look at other Flintstones specials and shows, Gold Key comics and character profiles.
1993 Cardz Flintstones has three insert sets. While all land at different rates, none are difficult to complete or particularly valuable.
Whatzit Coloring Cards are the most common. Landing one per pack, there are ten in the set. They’re so common that they’re often packaged together with the base set. These have line art of various gadgets and critters, and are ideal for a little creative expression.
Three Holograms (1:18 packs) take on the themes of Sports, Family and Friends.
The final chase card is a Tekchrome card that calls back to the show’s credits. Although it’s the toughest insert to find, it still averages out to one per box so it’s not rare.
Releasing at a time when the show’s profile was high thanks to reruns and a pending live-action film, production numbers appear to be high. This remains a product that’s still fairly readily available in all forms, including unopened boxes. As a result, prices have kept in check as well.
