2007 Stellar Sports Illustrated Swimsuit might be the strongest set of trading cards for the magazine released in the nearly decade’s long run. There might not be any memorabilia cards this time around but there are several big names, including a mega star from outside of modelling — Beyonce.
2007 Stellar Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Checklist Details
With 100 cards, the base set follows a similar pattern as the SI Swimsuit sets that came before it. The first 96 cards features shots from that were previously unpublished. Each model has at least two cards. Bar Refaeli and Marisa Miller have ten and 11 respectively in this section of the set.
Towards the end of the checklist are two 2008 Preview cards, one with another card of Miller and one featuring Brooklyn Decker.
Like all the previous sets, the final two cards are checklists with the magazine’s cover photo. Typically in trading cards, checklists are less desirable. Here, they’re the biggest base cards due to the presence of who’s on them — Beyonce.
The singer and entertainment icon also appears in a dedicated insert set. This adds ten more Beyonce cards to the overall 2007 Stellar Sports Illustrated Swimsuit checklist. Despite being relatively easy to pull at 1:4 packs, these have soared in value as collectors look to branch out and go after some of the biggest names in the world, not just sports.
Autographs are the product’s traditional hit. Landing one per box, ten different signers are possible. Topping the list are Brooklyn Decker, Bar Refaeli and Irina Shayk.
Rookies (ten cards, 1:4 packs) highlight models making their first Swimsuit Issue appearances, both in 2007 and in the past. Kathy Ireland and Heidi Klum are among them.
Printing Plates are available for the base set, Beyonce and Rookies inserts.
