Brooding young vampires and trading cards didn’t end with the Twilight franchise. 2011 Cryptozoic Vampire Diaries Season 1 kicks off a four-set run for the show. Although not massive in scope, the checklist still achieves something that many Cryptozoic sets do. Namely, that’s deliver a set that looks good and has autographs from the key signers. Hobby boxes deliver both a signed card and a memorabilia card.
2011 Cryptozoic Vampire Diaries Season 1 Checklist Details
The base set is a modest 63 cards. Outside of the title card that kicks things off and a trio of checklists that follow, it’s all about the episodes and recapping key events from the first season. Any themes that fall outside of summaries are saved for inserts.
The Autographs checklist is a big one with 20 different signers. Leading the way are the show’s three central stars: Nina Dobrev (Elena), Paul Wesley (Stefan) and Ian Somerhalder (Damon). For Vampire Diaries fans, there are signatures from several supporting stars as well. That said, you won’t find any major names outside of the lead three.
The Wardrobe Cards checklist is also large. Twenty cards, each with a swatch from a first season costume, are available in packs. These focus heavily on lead stars with the main three all getting multiple memorabilia cards. Another card, which takes the overall checklist up to 21, comes with an exclusive costume card not found in packs.
Rounding out 2011 Cryptozoic Vampire Diaries Season 1 are two standard insert sets, one using foil and another that’s die-cut. Each of these has nine cards and 1:8 pack odds.
Although the set came out in January, 2012, it’s commonly referred to as a 2011 set due to the copyright info on the back.
