1978 Topps Mork and Mindy trading cards capture the phenomenon of the TV show, particularly the star-making comedy of Robin Williams. The show might not have aged well over the decades, but this set still captures the fun and physical comedy that Williams brought.
1978 Topps Mork and Mindy Checklist Details
The 1978 Topps Mork and Mindy checklist includes a 99-card base set. Taking a comedic approach, it doesn’t exactly tell the story of the sitcom, a spinoff of Happy Days. Instead stills are paired up with snippets of dialogue. The result is something that looks a lot like a comic book. Jokes run throughout, which works to a large extent due to Williams’ over-the-top gestures and expressions. His spacesuit certainly helps in this regard as well.
Card backs come in a couple of different forms. Some have “The Orkan Reader” that offer a mix of show facts, trivia and more jokes. Other backs are puzzle pieces with either a blue or red border.
Joining the base set on the 1978 Topps Mork and Mindy checklist are 22 Stickers, which is very common in Topps’ entertainment releases from the 1970s and ’80s. These have posed promotional shots of both lead characters and land one per pack.
Today, Mork and Mindy is largely forgotten. While a lot of people remember it, it’s not building a new audience with younger generations. This combined with the fact that it’s still fairly readily available and it’s understandable why 1978 Topps Mork and Mindy values are still moderately low.
