2013 Enterplay Breygent Transformers Optimum Collection combines different elements of the franchise. While a lot of it connects to the live-action film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, there are elements of earlier films and the original animated series as well.
The set is also unique in that it’s ultimately a collaborative effort between two card companies.
While the checklist isn’t massive by today’s standards, it has a lot of different elements including autographs, sketch cards and even some memorabilia. While not guaranteed, most hobby boxes have three total premium inserts.
2013 Enterplay Breygent Transformers Optimum Collection Checklist Details
The base set has 72 cards and features characters and plot points from Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon. The first live action film from 2007 and its 2009 follow-up both had standalone releases from Topps. Printing Plates are the only parallels for the base set.
Most of the autographs come from actors who played Autobots and Decepticons. Leading the way is Star Trek icon, Leonard Nimoy who voiced Sentinel Prime. Nimoy has a connection to the original animated film as well, playing Galvatron. Rachel Taylor is among the other notable signers.
Three Costume Cards all use uniforms from NEST soldiers. Prop Cards have tire pieces from Ironhide.
Sketch cards are the most common of the premium hits, landing at least one per box. More than 75 artists worked on the set with art depicting both the cartoon and films.
A nine-card foil puzzle and 18 G1 Foil inserts are also on the 2013 Enterplay Breygent Transformers Optimum Collection checklist.
Originally, Enterplay was going to release a Revenge of the Fallen set. However, when it wasn’t completed, Breygent came on board to help get it onto the market, now with the broader subject approach.
A total of 250 cases of 2013 Enterplay Breygent Transformers Optimum Collection were produced.
