2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball parallels give player and team collectors a lot to chase. While most use color, foil or a mix of the two, cards also have new Watering Can, Egg and other spring-themed versions.
Base cards have more than 30 different parallels in 2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball. An evolving number of configurations is fuelling growth on an already large list. For example, new Fanatics blasters have Aqua versions. Similar to 2023 Topps Update Series Baseball, regular blasters have replaced manufactured relics with holiday parallels. This is where the Watering Cards, Eggs, Birds and Flowers come in.
The checklist has a couple of new rarities as well. True Photo cards strip away most of the design elements and player’s name on the front. What’s left is the original full-bleed photo, Topps logo and, if applicable, Rookie Cup.
First Card parallels were something of a surprise addition that came with an additional oops of a surprise. These cards are the very first copies off the production line and are stamped 1/1 on the back. They were supposed to be much more noticeable with a “First Card” stamp on the front but a production error kept them off. The end result is a one-of-one parallel that looks exactly like a base card except for the serial number (hint: check your card stacks carefully). Topps has acknowledged the mistake and if collectors send in one of the intended “First Card” copies, they will add the stamp on the front.
