In retrospect, it’s harder to imagine what situation is more far-fetched, that Kevin McAllister would find himself alone over the holidays a second time with the Wet Bandits in tow or that his first go around didn’t get a set of trading cards. Well, the second situation straightened itself out with 1992 Topps Home Alone 2 trading cards.
1992 Topps Home Alone 2 Checklist Details
At its most basic, 1992 Topps Home Alone 2 is your standard set of movie cards. Over 66 cards, Kevin’s accidental trip to New York while his family heads to Florida for Christmas. Of course, Harry and Marv also end up in The Big Apple despite the fact that they’re supposed to be in jail. More hijinks ensue.
Besides stars Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O’Hara and John Heard, 1992 Topps Home Alone 2 also has appearances from Tim Curry. If you’re looking for a card of a New York businessman with a cameo in the movie, you won’t find him here (but he is here and in many other sets).
Eleven stickers round out the checklist are 11 unnumbered stickers, which land one per pack. Backs are puzzle pieces that go together to form a kid-friendly drawing of New York.
Looking a little closer at the base set and you can see how Topps is transitioning its trading cards to make them more premium. All of the base cards are now glossy and on crisp, bright stock. It makes for a slightly more elevated approach, one that was sweeping the industry at the time.
With that came the end of wax wrappers as well and a shift to cello packs.
