2013 Enterplay GI Joe Retaliation is a largely forgettable set of trading cards based on a largely forgettable film. That said, the intent doesn’t appear to have been to make a big splash in the modern hobby realm. Rather, it was designed as something simple and affordable for the retail market.
In short, if you’re looking for Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis or Channing Tatum autographs, they’re not here.
2013 Enterplay GI Joe Retaliation Checklist Overview
There’s not a lot to a master set. It starts with a 48-card base set. Divided into three sections, it covers both the movie and its characters. The first dozen cards focus on the Joes and Cobra villains. These could be the key to the set. As far as mainstream sets go, this appears to be the first place to find Channing Tatum trading cards. Bruce Willis doesn’t have many, either.
The next 27 cards act as a summary of the film itself.
Finally, there are nine additional character cards. These come with puzzles on the back. In an unfortunate use of numbering, the puzzle will be spread across two pages for those who opt to binder it.
The only other thing on the 2013 Enterplay GI Joe Retaliation checklist is a set of six Temporary Tattoos. Landing one per pack, each sheet has three small icons.
Today, this set flies largely under the radar. Part of that is how it arrived — without any hype and awareness in traditional hobby circles. The other part is the lack of major cards. While some may draw interest, without autographs, memorabilia cards or even some compelling inserts, it doesn’t make for a very exciting modern release from a chase perspective.
