The toys might be getting most of the attention, but there’s also a set of 2023 McDonald’s Kerwin Frost McNugget Buddies trading cards.
Each blind box “Happy Meal toy” inside each Kerwin Frost Box comes with a corresponding card that matches the McNugget Buddy. The main set has six cards, although there’s a rare seventh.
The idea behind the Kerwin Frost Box is to offer what’s essentially a Happy Meal for adults — grown ups who most likely saw Ronald McDonald in regular rotation during after school cartoon blocks and grew up playing with Fast Macs, Muppet Babies figures and the original McNugget Buddies figures.
These new packages are basically a Big Mac or 10 Piece Chicken McNuggets Meal packaged inside a special box along with a toy — a McNugget Buddy figure designed by Kerwin Frost. Toys come in a separate sealed box so you don’t know whether you’re getting Waffutu, Darla, Uptown Moe or one of the others until you open it. The trading card is also inside the blind box.
Cards, which have rounded corners, have a picture of the character on the front and a bit of a bio on the reverse.
Frost is an entertainer who also built a name for himself creating streetwear and other collaborations. In addition to the McNugget Buddies toys, Frost also worked with McDonald’s for a line of clothing and accessories that was released at the same time.
The Rare and Elusive McNugget Legend
Everywhere you look on the Kerwin Frost Box and promotional materials, there are six McNugget Buddies. In actuality, there are seven. A rare golden nugget, McNugget Legend, is also available. This is card 0 in the set and is definitely a short print.
How rare is McNugget Legend? McDonald’s has been tightlipped thus far, not even mentioning the secret McNugget Buddy and trading card.
