2025 Topps Chrome Football Tecmo inserts aren’t just a nostalgic nod to the iconic video game. It’s an official collaboration. If that wasn’t enough to make it popular, it’s also one of the rarest inserts on the 2025 Topps Chrome Football checklist.
Cards are designed to look like screen grabs from the animated cut scenes that came after big plays, most notably touchdowns. It’s 8-bit glory. No names on the front. Even team logos are absent. Team colors and jersey numbers are the big giveaways on the front. It’s a set that requires a little memory and some abstract imagination.
With roughly half of the players on the 2025 Topps Chrome Football Tecmo checklist being active when the landmark game arrived in 1991, the throwback is likely to take a lot of collectors back to the Saturday nights of their youth with empty boxes of Pizza Hut on the floor and Pepsi belches looking for a way to escape youthful bellies.
Five rookies and five veteran superstars are also part of the set, given pixelated imaginings.
