Marvel trading cards are among the most popular in the hobby. The first sets date all the way back to the mid 1960s. Since then, there has been a constant stream of releases. Over the years, Marvel, SkyBox, Impel, Donruss, Fleer, Upper Deck and Rittenhouse Archives are among the companies to produce Marvel trading cards.

Since the 1990s, Marvel sets have often been among the trend-setters for new industry innovations. Impel relied on holograms. A few years later, the Masterpieces line brought high-end trading cards to the entertainment side of the hobby. Nearly all Marvel products now are highlighted by sketch cards.
