2010 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 5 maintains much of what was done when the brand was successfully revived the previous year. Art and its many styles are the selling point. However, sketch cards aren’t the only premium inserts. Actor autographs are included in a set of Star Wars Galaxy trading cards for the first time.
2010 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 5 Checklist Details
The 120-card base set keeps up with the bigger-than-average trend. New Visions kick off the checklist. The subset comes with newly commissioned artwork. Many of the artists in this part of the set did multiple cards. Among the other subsets are Star Wars Manga, The Old Republic and Star Wars Unleashed.
All base cards come with Printing Plate parallels. Done with the four colors of the printing process, black, yellow, cyan and magenta, each is a one-of-one.
Sketch Cards
Sketch cards are the primary premium insert in 2010 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 5. They land one per hobby box. Sketch cards can also be found in retail backs. These have a slight variation on the card design with Yoda on the back. Sketch cards from hobby packs have Darth Maul.
In addition to basic art, there are Manga and Shaped Sketch Cards. Both are inserted 1:192 hobby packs.
Autographs and Other Inserts
The Actor Autographs recreate the character artwork from the first set of Star Wars Galaxy cards that were released in 1993. Signatures are done using stickers. Mark Hamill and David Prowse are among the six signers.
Etched Foil cards are a Galaxy tradition. And they’re one that continues here. Joe Corroney provides the artwork here for a six-card foil puzzle.
Fifteen characters have cards in the basic Foil set which was created by Randy Martinez. Basic versions have a foil background while parallels come in Bronze, Gold (/770) and Refractor.
Lost Galaxy returns with five more pieces of art that were created with the intention of being in an early Star Wars Galaxy set but never made the final checklist.
