2013 Cryptozoic Superman: The Legend trading cards look into the character and history of the comic book icon. Taking a somewhat straightforward approach, the main set is complimented by a handful of inserts. Hobby boxes promise a sketch card from a large roster of artists.
2013 Cryptozoic Superman: The Legend Checklist Details
With just 62 cards, the base set isn’t very big. It’s entirely based around those that populate the various Superman comics. Other heroes, villains, humans and aliens are all present. Comic and animation writer, Adam Beechen provides the text on the card backs. The entire set get a couple of parallels. Foil versions are fairly easy at 1:4 packs. Printing Plates, on the other hand, are one-of-a-kind. Each card has a lone Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow Plate.
Sketch Cards are the big chase. Each comes with original art done directly on the card. Typical for Cryptozoic, these are typically in full color. More than 100 artists contributed to the release making for a lot of different styles.
Nine X-Ray Vision cards are cut in the shape of the Superman symbol. These are also heat-activated.
Among the other insert sets on the 2013 Cryptozoic Superman: The Legend checklist is Alternate Worlds, which highlight different versions of the famous Kryptonian. Rounding things out are The Women of Superman and Secret Origin, a set dedicated to the six-issue mini series from Geoff Johns and Gary Frank.
