1996 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Magazine Cover Gallery is a small set of trading cards that came packaged in select issues. The Topps-produced publication was known for regularly including promo cards for upcoming releases. However, some were merely add-ins and incentives for buying the magazine.
Starting in Summer, 1996 issue #8, the cover art was recreated as a trading card. These were available exclusively in Deluxe Collectors’ Edition versions sent to subscribers and sold in comic shops.
Each of the Cover Gallery cards feature artwork from high-profile artists including the Hildebrandt Brothers and Joe Jusko.
The set lasted four issues, running through #12. The following issue was the magazine’s last before being repurposed and relaunched.
Two years earlier, a set of Star Wars Finest cards were distributed in a similar manner.
