1995 SkyBox Free Willy 2: The Adventure Continues trading cards are about as wholesome as you’d expect. Believe it or not, it goes beyond the big screen sequel. Not by a lot, but it does. Aimed at young fans more than dedicated collectors, the checklist has some inserts but there’s nothing overly rare or intended to be a massive chase.

1995 SkyBox Free Willy 2 Checklist Details

The base set has 90 cards. Divided into three sections, the first—and biggest—is a traditional recap of the movie and its themes. This provides several opportunities to showcase both the characters and the film’s growing cast of whales (animatronic or otherwise). From there, the 1995 SkyBox Free Willy 2 checklist expands into the broader franchise with a dozen cards based on the animated series. Rounding things out are the educational Orcas in the Wild subset.

As for inserts, the focus is on fun and functionality. Pop Out cards are one per hobby pack while there’s a Coloring Card in every retail pack. These are meant to be used and played with.

Puzzle cards are fairly common in entertainment trading cards. However, 1995 SkyBox Free Willy 2 goes a little more upscale with these, printing the nine cards on Spectra-Etch Foil. This provides a lot more pop and elegance compared to traditional flat foil.

Rounding things out are a pair of Lenticular cards that flip between images. These are the rarest chase cards, landing 1:36 packs.

With the Free Willy franchise a product of the clamshell VHS era, this set is largely overlooked today and remains very affordable in all regards.
